It took a “village”

The third scheduled closing date was the charm: tonight Vinyasa is finally, legally ours. And we are oh-so-thankful for the people who helped us along the way:

Cruiser coaches Jamie and Behan of Sailing Totem deliver a delightful mix of encouragement, practical advice and inspiration. They helped us winnow down a long list of potential boats, better understand the inevitable trade-offs between boats, and pointed us to other great people. We look forward to meeting up with them on the water someday!

Behan referred us to a wonderful boat broker: Richard Jordan, who works with the family-run Jordan Yachts in Dania Beach, Florida. He went above and beyond representing us across 1,500+ miles, transparently untangling kinks, hooking us up with helpful resources, and being an all around terrific guy. If you’re boat shopping in the Ft. Lauderdale/South Florida area, we highly recommend Richard, and the team at Jordan Yachts.

Behan also referred us to a terrific surveyor, Jon Howe. Jon and his son Tim delivered an extremely thorough survey, provided a prioritized list for us to work through, and were a pleasure to work with.

We found Liz Childs, our excellent Pantaenius America insurance agent, via the always-helpful Women Who Sail group on Facebook. We shopped around as part of our due diligence, and Liz offered the best value for price, along with responsive, personable service,

What’s next? Getting a good bit of work done on Vinyasa over the next three weeks, in preparation for sailing her from Fort Lauderdale to the Chesapeake Bay.
